چکیده
Direct pulp capping (DPC) is defined as the treatment of a mechanical or traumatic vital pulp exposure by sealing the pulpal wound with a biomaterial placed directly on exposed pulp to facilitate formation of reparative dentin and maintenance of the vitality of pulp. 1 Calcium hydroxide has been the gold standard for this purpose. The alkalinity of calcium hydroxide causes superficial necrosis of exposed pulp. This necrosis acts as mild irritation and thus stimulates the pulp to form a reparative dentin bridge. The success rate of calcium hydroxide direct capping was 80.1% after 1 year, 68.0% after 5 years, and 58.7% after 9 years. 2 The reason for failure over time is attributed to tunnel defects that form in the bridge. This fails to provide a permanent barrier and a ABSTRACT

A comparative histological analysis of human pulp following direct pulp capping with Propolis, mineral trioxide aggregate and Dycal.
BACKGROUND Permanent teeth pulp exposures have traditionally been treated with calcium hydroxide pulp capping. The aim of this study was to investigate the response of human pulp tissue which were mechanically exposed to a new material, Propolis and compare it with two existing and commonly used pulp capping agents (mineral trioxide aggregate and Dycal). METHODS Thirty-six intact human premol...

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and histological status of the pulp in sound human premolars after direct pulp capping (DPC) with four different DPC methods/materials. METHODS AND MATERIALS This study was conducted on eight volunteers who had to extract four first premolars due to orthodontic treatment. Subsequent to tooth isolation, standardized class I occlus...

It is a worthy aim to preserve the pulp vitality in teeth with immature root in order to continue the root's maturation. Traumatic injuries and caries are two main reasons for pulp exposure in immature teeth. This article describes two vital pulp therapies on two patients, a nine-year-old boy with traumatized central tooth and a 10-year-old boy with caries exposure in a premolar tooth. Both tee...

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The aim of present study was to investigate pulp-dentin complex reactions following direct pulp capping (DPC) with calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] and simvastatin as pulp-capping materials in the primary human molars. MATERIALS AND METHODS 120 primary molar teeth which had to be extracted for orthodontic reasons were randomly allocated into four groups. Group Ι as a control, u...
متن کاملAdverse effects of human pulps after direct pulp capping with the different components from a total-etch, three-step adhesive system.
OBJECTIVES The objective was to evaluate the response of human pulps capped with different components from a total-etch three-step adhesive system. METHODS Direct pulp capping was performed in 25 caries-free human premolars scheduled for extraction due to orthodontic treatment. The teeth were randomly divided in five groups, and capped with the following materials: Group 1-acid+primer+adhesiv...
